 Blending Brushes and Butterflies

Here is my card for this weeks sketch challenge over at

Freshly Made Sketches.

I had fun playing with the "Blending Brushes". They are so easy to use.

I started with a 4 1/4" x 8 1/2" scored at 4 1/4" piece of Thick Basic White Card Stock. 

Using a piece of scrap paper, cover half of the card front, sponge Calypso Coral Ink over the other half using the Blending Brushes. Repeat on the other side using Daffodil Delight Card Stock. 

Cut a thin, long strip of Basic Black card Stock, glue to the card from corner to corner. Turn over and trim off excess. 

Using a Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker, splatter some ink over the card.

Die cut 2 detailed butterflies using the Brilliant Wings Dies, one in Basic Black and one in Magenta Madness. Attach them together with a thin strip of a Dimensional. Attach to the card front using another thin strip of a Dimensional. 

Using a Black Sharpie Marker or a Basic Black Stampin' Blend, colour 3 Rhinestones and attach to the card front. 

I didn't add any sentiment. If I find I need a card at the last minute I can quickly add the sentiment.

Pretty Peacock Floral Card

It is almost time to say goodbye to one of my favorite colours, Pretty Peacock. It is such a beautiful colour, and I will miss it!  Soon we will have 5 new In-Colours to fall in love with!!

If any of the 2019-2021 In-Colours are your favourites, remember that they and all products associated with them will be retiring! Order now to avoid disappointment. 

Here are the directions for todays card.

The card base is Pretty Peacock cut to 4 1/4" x 11" and scored at 5 1/2".

The Basic White layer is 3" x 4 1/4". The Pretty Peacock layer is 4" x 2 3/4". Emboss this layer using the Painted Texture Embossing Folder. Attach the Pretty Peacock layer to the Basic White layer, then attach them to the card front using Dimensionals.

Die cut a large oval from the Stitched Shapes Dies using Basic White Card Stock.

Stamp the flower from "Flowering Blooms" using Memento Black Ink onto the oval.

I used the Light Pool Party Stampin' Blends and outlined the image. I really like the look this creates. 

Attach the oval to the card front using Dimensionals.

Tie a small double bow using the Pool Party Sheer ribbon, attach to the card using a Glue Dot.

Add a few Rhinestones to finish it off.

A simple card today.

I started with a Basic White card base of 4 1/4" x 11" and scored at 5 1/2".

Using the Blending Brushes and Balmy Blue Classic Ink, add some colour to the right hand side of the card base.

Cut two 1/2" x 4" or 3" pieces of Basic Black Card Stock. I angle cut the ends. One strip is slightly longer than the other. Attach both strips to the card base with a small gap between them.

Sprinkle some Wink Of Stella onto the card base.

Using a Basic Black and a Pool Party or Balmy Blue Stampin' Write Marker, splatter some of the marker ink onto the card base over the sponged area.

Loop some Pool Party Sheer Ribbon back and forth over the Basic Black strips. Attach down using Glue Dots or Tear And Tape where it will be hidden behind the butterfly.

Die cut one of the larger butterflies from the Butterfly Bijou Designer Series Paper using the Brilliant Wings Dies.

Attach the butterfly to the card front using Dimensionals.

Add a few Rhinestones. 

Stamp a sentiment onto the bottom using Memento Black Ink.

It took me longer to write this blog post then it did to make the card!! LOL
