Waves Of Inspiration Pelican Card

 Waves Of Inspiration Pelican Card

I had a lot of fun designing these cards!

I used the Waves Of Inspiration Bundle and the Charming Sentiments Bundle to create todays cards. The Charming Sentiments is a great set to have in your collection! It has lots of different sentiments and the matching dies that cut out the sentiments in a close crop. This is a really popular technique right now.

Directions for todays cards:

Cut a piece of Balmy Blue Card Stock to 4 1/4" X 11" and score at 5 1/2".

Cut a piece of Basic Black C/S to 4 1/8" X 5 3/8" and attach it to the card base using Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.

Cut a piece of Basic White C/S to 4" X 5 1/4".

Using a Blending Brush and Balmy Blue Ink, add some colour to the bottom right side of the Basic White C/S layer.

*Tip: After rubbing the Blending Brush into the ink, gently dab off some of the ink onto a piece of scrap paper. Then using a soft circular motion, add the ink to the paper. Repeat this until you are happy with the results. By wiping off some of the ink onto scrap paper you avoid harsh/dark ink lines.

Then add some Starry Sky Ink to the paper, using the same technique as above. Be extra careful because this is a much darker ink.

Using Memento Black Ink, stamp the pelican onto a piece of scrap Basic White C/S.

Using Stampin' Blends: Colour the pelicans beak in Light Calypso Coral.

Colour the wood posts in Dark Soft Suede. Then using the Stampin' Blends Color Lifter, remove some of the Soft Suede colour to create some shading in the center of the wood posts. This is a great way to do some easy shading!

Die cut the pelican and attach it to the Basic White C/S layer using Dimensionals.

Stamp the sentiment using Starry Sky Ink and the Charming Sentiments Bundle. Die cut using the coordinating die. Also die cut the same die as the sentiment in Starry Sky C/S. Layer the two together with just a bit of the Starry Sky C/S showing. I like the way this creates a slight shadow. Attach the sentiment to the card using Dimensionals.

Stamp 3 Memento Black Ink birds onto the card front.

I attached the Natural Finish Ribbon two different ways. On one card I attach the ribbon vertically, securing it to the back of the art layer then I tied a Linen Thread bow. Using Dimensionals I attach this layer to the card base.

For the second card, I wrapped the ribbon around the card horizontally and tied a knot on the left hand side. I also stamped a few birds directly onto the ribbon using Memento Black Ink. I frayed the ribbon ends a bit too. Then I attached it to the card base using Dimensionals.

For the inside I stamped the pelican using Memento Black Ink and I added a thin strip of Basic Black C/S under it.

I hope you get a chance to do something today that makes you happy. For me, one thing is playing in my craft room.

Once I discovered cardmaking, I forgot how to cook. #tayloredexpressions #crafthumor | Creativity quotes, Funny quotes, Inspirational quotes
