 Nuts About Squirrels Sketch Challenge

I absolutely love squirrels! They are cute, silly, funny and they make me smile! So when I saw the sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches I knew immediately I was going to use the "Nuts About You" Stamp Set!

Isn't she just adorable! 

I added a small flag piece from Early Espresso Card Stock embossed with the Tasteful Textiles Embossing Folder. I just thought the card needed something up top. Then I took some Gold Shimmer Ribbon, cut off the raw edge, pulled out some threads and tied a bow. After I attached it with a Glue Dot, I carefully used my fingernail to curl the ends.

I started with a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" piece of Crumb Cake Card Stock for my base that I scored at 4 1/4". 

I added 3 strips of the "Beauty Of The Earth" Designer Series Paper cut at 1/2" and glued down on a diagonal.

Stamp the squirrel onto Very Vanilla C/S using Memento Black Ink then stamp the body in Basic Grey Ink.  Stamp the acorn in Early Espresso and Soft Suede Inks. 

Die cut the image out using the Layering Circles Dies and a scalloped circle using Cajun Craze C/S. Attach together and add to the card using Dimensionals. 

Stamp "Happy Birthday" onto a small strip of Very Vanilla C/S using Memento Black Ink. Attach to the card using Dimensionals.

Cut a strip of Early Espresso C/S, flag one end, emboss using the Tasteful Textiles Embossing Folder and attach to the card front at the top left.

Attach the Gold Shimmer Ribbon threads.

Supplies:

Stamp: Time Of Giving

Card Stock: Basic White and Vellum

Ink: Fresh Freesia

Dies: Giving Gifts

Accessories: Stampin’ Blends; Fresh Freesia Dark, Misty Moonlight Dark and Night Of Navy Light and Wink of Stella

Embossing Folder: Snowflakes

Miscellaneous: Rubbing Alcohol 99%

Directions:

Cut a card base of Basic White to 4 1/4” x 11” and score at 5 1/2”. 

Cut another piece of Basic White C/S to 4” x 5 1/4”. 

Die cut the Giving Gifts Santa Die near the top/center of the Basic White panel. When you die cut out the Santa and Sleigh it creates your rectangle window opening for the Vellum to show through.

 

Then emboss this panel with a Snowflake Embossing Folder (or a star or any Christmas embossing folder) Die cut another Santa and sleigh to glue/layer overtop of the embossed Santa and sleigh. This will add some strength and also not be embossed. 

Cut a piece of Vellum to 3 3/4” x 4”. Using Stampin’ Blends, scribble and add colour all over the Vellum. 

Using 99% rubbing alcohol, dip a small paint brush into the alcohol and dab over the scribbled lines. You just want the colours to bleed and soften the harsh marker lines. If you get some puddling, use a tissue to dab the excess off. Once dry, splatter with some rubbing alcohol to create some spots. Let dry again and splatter with Wink Of Stella. 

Cut a strip of this Vellum panel off to layer under the sentiment strip.

Attach the remainder of the Vellum to the card base using adhesive in the 4 corners. You want the Vellum panel to be behind the die cut. Attach the Basic White die cut panel to the card base and over top the Vellum, using Dimensionals. 

Stamp a sentiment on a Basic White C/S strip using Fresh Freesia Ink. Attach to a strip of the left over Vellum that is slightly larger. Attach to the card front using Dimensionals. 

Add some Rhinestones to finish the card off.

I love that we have a day to celebrate the creativity of making and sending homemade cards!

Todays card is for the sketch challenge over at Freshly Made Sketches. Check out all the other talented card makers HERE.

These Snowmen are so happy, they make me smile! 

Directions:

Cut a card base of Basic White Card Stock to 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" and score at 4 1/4".

Cut a layer of Basic Black C/S to 4" x 5 1/4" and emboss using  the Tasteful Textiles Embossing Folder. Attach this layer to the card front.

Die cut 2 Real Red C/S scalloped circles using the Layering Circles Dies. Emboss both the circles with the Tasteful Textiles Embossing Folder then attach them to the card front slightly overlapping.

Using Memento Black Ink on Basic White C/S, stamp 2 snowmen and punch them out with the coordinating Snowman Builder Punch. 

Colour in the noses with a Dark Calypso Coral Stampin' Blends and outline the snowman bodies with a Light Pool Party Stampin' Blends. Add some Wink Of Stella to the bodies. 

Punch out 2 hats using Basic Black C/S and 2 sets of arms using Crumb Cake C/S and attach them to the snowmen using Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue. Using Dimensionals, attach the snowmen to the Real Red C/S circles.

On a strip of Basic White C/S, stamp Merry Christmas in Memento Black Ink. Cut apart and using Dimensionals, attach to the snowmen.
