(New Post) Fractured Card Technique

Fractured Card Technique And Lots Of Sointula Photos!

The One Horse Open Sleigh Designer Series Paper has so many beautiful images and great coordinating patterns on the reverse side! I chose this beautiful serene piece for my card today. I love the different layers of the blues.

This fractured card technique is very easy to do and so effective! I have two card samples today so make sure to scroll down!

Directions for card front:

Cut a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" piece of Thick Basic White Card Stock and score at 4 1/4" for the card base. Set aside.

Cut a 5 3/8" x 4 1/8" piece of Night Of Navy C/S.

Cut a 5 1/4" x 4" piece of the One Horse Open Sleigh Designer Series Paper and attach it to the Night Of Navy C/S layer using Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.

Cut a 2" x 2" Basic White C/S square.

Stamp the sentiment from "Horse & Sleigh Stamp Set" using Night Of Navy Ink. Attach it to the card at an angle using Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue. *Tip, I used a sentiment that was too long for my square so I only inked up a portion of it. I stamped it, cleaned my stamp well, then inked up the remainder of the sentiment and stamped it underneath. This is especially easy to do with Photopolymer stamps.

Cut 4 strips of Night Of Navy C/S to 1/4" x 5 1/2".

Using Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue, start adding the strips. The first strip will line up with the edge of the square panel. See photos for placements. The strips are butted right up to the square and hang off the card.

After you have glued down all 4 strips, trim off the excess from behind.

Attach this layer to the Basic White card base using Dimensionals. Add a beautiful sparkly "Night Of Navy & Gold Glitter Ribbon" and some "Adhesive-Backed Glitter Sequins" to finish off the card front. **Tip: I wanted a smaller more delicate bow so I cut a piece of the ribbon in half length wise then tied my bow. Save the other piece for another project!

Directions For Card Inside:

I kept it very simple and only stamped some trees from the "Horse & Sleigh Stamp Set" using Night Of Navy Ink, stamped off one time and two times for a softer look. I will also do the same for the envelope.

Here is my second design. I used the same card stocks and One Horse Open Sleigh DSP but I changed the sentiment. It is from another new stamp set called "Beary Cute". The bling is the new "Blooming Pearls".

Try this fun and easy technique out for yourself!

I am in Sointula again visiting my parents. They live right on the water and every morning is such a delight looking out the window. I took this photo the other day I think the background looks just like the One Horse Open Sleigh Designer Series Paper that I used in the first card! Even the colours are the same!
This photo looks out towards Port McNeill on Vancouver Island.

Here are some more interesting photos around this small town of Sointula. Everywhere you look there is something interesting!

  1. I LOVE both of your cards Arlene. I have made this fractured card but I used solid cardstock for my layer. The DSP you’ve used is gorgeous with the cardstock color choice, the little bow and the perfect touch of bling! You’ve inspired me to make another fractured card.

Thanks for sharing all the photos from beautiful Sointula, you’ve got an amazing eye for taking pictures, you’re quite the photographer.
